Description
This view takes in the huge bluffs, the roiling ocean waves and as the sky opens up a beautiful rainbow appears. If you look closely you may see two hikers about 3/4 of the way up the trail revealing the size in comparison of these lava flow bluffs. The waves crash the bluffs and shoot 60 ft. into the air surprising the hikers on the Maha’ulepu Heritage trail. You can see the strata of successive lava flows in the bluffs. This view looking southwest is from the eastern side of Punahoa Point on the Maha’ulepu Heritage trail, just a few miles from Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii.

Kauai, Hawaii
Kauai is an island in the Central Pacific, in Kauai county, part of the Hawaiian archipelago. It's nicknamed "the Garden Isle" thanks to the tropical rainforest covering much of its surface. The dramatic cliffs and pinnacles of its Na Pali Coast have served as a backdrop for major Hollywood films, while 10-mile-long Waimea Canyon and the Nounou Trails traversing the Sleeping Giant mountain ridge are hiking destinations.
