We feel the crisp cool breeze on our cheeks as the approaching storm crests the snowcapped peaks in the background. The air is clear, but the altitude affords us with 40% less oxygen, and the large granite, quartz, and sandstone boulders make the trek slow. The 2000+ foot drop-off to our right makes every step weary. A significant hike off of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, rewards us with this glorious view into the valley and across to the next range of snowcapped peaks.
Taken with 35mm Technichrome slides in 1974, this photo was cleaned, scanned, and enhanced to restore the original color and clarity.
