Description
As we turned the bend and see the landscape before us we were stunned. The clouds, rain, and mist in the distance created shadows that contrasted nicely with the colorful highlights on the trees and cliffs below. One of the most famous waterfalls in the world, Waipo’o Falls, can be seen in the distance on the left.
This is the left panoramic of two I created from stitching together several images of Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, viewed from the trail leading to the overlook, off from Route 550, on Kauai, Hawaii, USA.
Kauai, Hawaii
Kauai is an island in the Central Pacific, in Kauai county, part of the Hawaiian archipelago. It's nicknamed "the Garden Isle" thanks to the tropical rainforest covering much of its surface. The dramatic cliffs and pinnacles of its Na Pali Coast have served as a backdrop for major Hollywood films, while 10-mile-long Waimea Canyon and the Nounou Trails traversing the Sleeping Giant mountain ridge are hiking destinations.

This brings back so many memories. If I have the area correct, that long brown patch on the left is a trail that leads to Waipo`o Falls on the other side. It's a treacherous trail, slippery and has no guard rails or anything. Superb pano!
